# Nottingham Forest: Reds eye up Josh Bowler signing

**[Nottingham Forest](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/nottingham-forest-news/) are interested in signing Blackpool winger Josh Bowler in the summer transfer window as the Reds continue to seek new additions.**

### The Lowdown: Relentless summer at Forest

Steve Cooper’s side have made a promising start to life back in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), picking up four points from their opening three matches of the season.

A relentless summer has seen [a host of new faces](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nottingham-forest/transfers/verein/703) arrive at the City Ground, with the Reds strengthening all over the pitch and spending [huge sums of money](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nottingham-forest/transfers/verein/703) in the process.

Their summer escapades don’t seem to be done yet, though, with a fresh transfer rumour now emerging.

### The Latest: Bowler rumour emerges

According to journalist Alan Nixon on [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/posts/forest-back-for-70790676) \[via [Nottingham Forest News](https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2022/08/21/nottingham-forest-josh-bowler-blackpool/)\], Forest are keen on signing Bowler. A modest £2.5m bid may hopefully enough to prise him away from Blackpool, who may be willing to take the money as the player is into the [final year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-bowler/profil/spieler/506470) of his contract at Bloomfield Road.

The 23-year-old has shone for his current club in recent years, [scoring seven goals and registering three assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/337424/History/Josh-Bowler) in the Championship last season.

### The Verdict: Good squad option

Bowler may not be someone who would come in as a guaranteed starter for Forest, but he is a player with a seemingly bright future who could provide much-needed squad depth.

A lively right winger whose aforementioned end product speaks for itself, the Englishman could thrive alongside players operating at a higher level than Blackpool, and Cooper may believe that he can take him up another level.

\[freshpress-poll id=”405077″\]

Bowler’s former QPR boss Ian Holloway has [claimed](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/josh-bowler-blackpool-holloway-stewart-23304502) that the 23-year-old is a player that he would ‘pay to watch’, and his long-term potential makes him a no-brainer for Forest to pursue.

That is especially the case given the mooted price, which would be one of the [lowest sums paid out](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nottingham-forest/transfers/verein/703) for an incoming transfer by the Reds this summer.
