Nottingham Forest are closing in on Swedish defender Mattias Johansson, with a deal seemingly all but done.
According to Gazzetta (via HITC), the Championship side are on the cusp of bringing the Panathinaikos man to the City Ground this summer. The report claims it would be ‘a major shock’ if the deal does not go through at this stage.
Will Nottingham Forest be promoted this season?
The right-back is about to become a free agent after his contract with the Greek outfit was left to tick down. Forest seem to have wrapped up their move for Johansson and are just waiting to tie up the loose ends. Interest was revealed earlier this week (per NovaSports, via Nottinghamshire Live) and now the move looks to be almost completed. It seems Sabri Lamouchi was very keen on bringing the Swede to the club.
The 28-year-old has played a total of 326 senior games across his career and has contributed 13 goals and 18 assists. Johansson has also been capped for his country three times (via Transfermarkt).
Adding the right-back to the Forest ranks will provide some interesting competition for rising star Matty Cash, who has become a regular starter under Lamouchi this season.
