# One in, one out: The summer transfer business Manchester United simply must complete

**Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains insistent that his team have had a good season, despite seeing rivals City romp to the Premier League title ahead of the Red Devils.**

The Portuguese manager will know though that further improvement is needed across most departments in his team, and this summer will represent a big moment for the club, something our landlord and punters here in the Tavern agree wholeheartedly with.

Seeing City run so far away them must be painful for the Old Trafford club and its fans, and Mourinho will know deep down he needs to get things right this summer in order to address the balance of his squad and close the gap on their rivals.

With that in mind, we took a look at one potential incoming and outgoing at Old Trafford this summer which will improve the squad…

## Out – Luke Shaw

It goes without saying that Shaw’s time at United has not quite gone to plan, and this summer we will surely see the former Southampton defender move on and away from the club.

His relationship with Mourinho appears strained to say the very least, and a lack of form and fitness appears to be spelling the end for Shaw.

There will however be plenty of clubs who are willing to take a punt on Shaw in the top flight, and with United no doubt willing to sell, it would be the best move for all parties involved if a deal can be made to move Shaw on.

## In – Gareth Bale

United need to go out and make a huge marquee signing this summer, and what better player to capture than Real Madrid and Wales star, Bale.

The former Spurs man has developed into a truly world class talent during his time in Spain, and despite not being favoured by manager Zinedine Zidane, there is little doubting Bale’s ability.

The addition of Bale would likely force out the likes of Anthony Martial and Juan Mata, but it would not be the end of the world. Bale would bring genuine world class quality to Old Trafford and bring fans to the edge of their seats thanks to his style of play.
