Surviving League Two was always going to be difficult with Macauley Bonne off to Charlton, and now things just got as twice as hard for Leyton Orient.

The news of Josh Koroma’s transfer to Huddersfield Town meant that in the space of a few weeks Orient had lost two of their star names who were at the heart of the club’s promotion from the National League back into the Football League, and now heading into the new season it is starting to look increasingly unlikely of a fairytale return to the Football League.

Of course, there is still plenty of time left in the market for Orient to bring in quality additions who can plug in the holes left by Koroma and Bonne, but with the club still dealing with the sudden and tragic passing of Justin Edinburgh it is unknown whether or not these moves will be made in time for the new season.

Koroma and Bonne both combined last season to score and assist 45 goals for the Orient as they finished top of the National League table, with only five of those strikes being scored and set-up by one-another, and to suddenly lose that kind of firepower will be devastating for any club heading into a new league.

But this is Orient we’re talking about, the club that endured one of the one worst football ownerships in recent memory and came out stronger than ever, and if any club can find it in them to replace two of their most important players in a matter of weeks, it’s the O’s.
