# Celtic: Paddy Kenny makes Ange Postecoglou contract claim

**Paddy Kenny has made a contract claim regarding Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, as per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/ange-postecoglou-celtic-hero-tipped-to-demand-new-deal-after-major-development-kenny/).**

### The Lowdown: Australia tour

The Hoops have already made plans for Postecoglou’s second season in charge, with domestic football set to take a five-week break due to the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year.

Celtic [confirmed](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2022/march/01/ange-s-australian-homecoming/) earlier this month that they will take part in a four-team tournament down under at that time, describing the trip as ‘Ange’s Australian homecoming’.

### The Latest: Kenny’s comments on Postecoglou

Kenny was talking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/ange-postecoglou-celtic-hero-tipped-to-demand-new-deal-after-major-development-kenny/) and addressed the news coming from Celtic Park.

The pundit claimed that the Hoops manager may now look to renegotiate a ‘better deal’ and labelled Postecoglou, who signed a [12-month rolling contract](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/june/Celtic-appoint-Ange-Postecoglou-as-new-football-manager/) last summer, as a ‘hero’ in Glasgow.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper said of the 56-year-old:

> “He’s done better than anyone thought he would.
>
> “You wouldn’t talk about a homecoming tour if you weren’t certain he will be there in November.
>
> “It’s a 12-month deal, I wonder if he could renegotiate and get himself a better deal because he has done so well.
>
> “Celtic could win the league, that would be crazy considering how far off they were last season.
>
> “Even if Celtic don’t win the league they will keep him on, he looks so loved by the fans, he’s a hero.
>
> “A new deal would be well deserved but I don’t know what he’s like, he might be happy doing what he’s doing.”

### The Verdict: Good point

It’s easy to forget that, last summer, Postecoglou appeared to be second choice at Parkhead after a move for Eddie Howe [fell through](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9629177/Celtics-Eddie-Howe-COLLAPSES-talks-break-backroom-team.html).

Following an impressive first season in Glasgow, where he has already guided the club to a Scottish League Cup triumph and currently leads the way at the top of the Premiership, the Hoops hierarchy and the 56-year-old may well be open to penning a long-term deal.

You’d expect that everyone involved at Parkhead wants to see Postecoglou leading the club once again next season and beyond, so it would make sense to discuss a new contract for longer than a 12-month period.
