# Wolves: Noel Whelan welcomes Pedro Neto’s return from injury

**[Former Premier League striker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/noel-whelan/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/3315/wettbewerb/GB1) Noel Whelan has hailed Pedro Neto’s return from injury for Wolves, describing it as ‘massive’ for Bruno Lage’s side.**

### The Lowdown: Neto makes comeback

The Old Gold picked up a crucial 2-1 win at home to Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, with their hopes of a European finish very much still on track.

That wasn’t the only thing for Wolves fans to celebrate either, as Neto made his long-awaited return from a [serious knee injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pedro-neto/verletzungen/spieler/487465) in the second half. It was the Portuguese’s [first appearance since last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pedro-neto/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/487465), a significant milestone in his recovery.

### The Verdict: Huge for Wolves

Neto was [arguably Wolves’ best player](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/161/Archive/England-Wolverhampton-Wanderers) last season before he got injured, [scoring five times and registering six assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/337916/History/Pedro-Neto) in the league, so his return is enormous.

With Adama Traore now on loan at Barcelona, the Portuguese winger restores some much-needed depth to Lage’s squad in that position and he will likely be a regular starter again before too long if he can get anywhere close to his pre-injury performance levels.

Neto has the ability to not only bring out the best in Raul Jimenez, who hasn’t always been on top form this season – he has [only scored five goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108186/Show/Ra%C3%BAl-Jim%C3%A9nez) in the league – but also provide the spark to inspire Wolves to a European finish.

Some patience will be required initially, though, as he works his way back to full match sharpness.
