# ‘Perfect back-up for Kane’ – Spurs fans eager for Poch to set up emotional transfer

**Jermain Defoe has had more football clubs than many have had hot dinners, so the now 34-year-old has a long list of ex-fans to call upon and it seems as though Tottenham supporters haven’t forgotten him.**

With two spells at White Hart Lane behind him and over 250 league appearances in the white shirt, the now Sunderland man remains a cult hero in north London, so whispers he may be available in a few months’ time have alerted Lilywhites supporters, with some here in the Transfer Tavern re-watching his best goals for the club while getting a little misty eyed.

Defoe has recently claimed that he [may have to leave the Black Cats if they get relegated](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/03/20/jermain-defoe-admits-england-place-may-rely-leaving-sunderland/) and [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/3145368/west-ham-jermain-defoe-sunderland/) have even suggested that a clause in his contract might allow him to move on for free if that does transpire, somewhat leaving the door ajar for a transfer.

With Spurs short of attacking options beyond Harry Kane, a fair few Tottenham supporters are eager to see him back at the Lane, and they’ve taken to Twitter to voice their opinions…

> [@GGTHFC](https://twitter.com/GGTHFC) Would be an absolute brilliant back up to Kane, but would Defoe want a secondary role?
