# Liverpool: Fans react to Phil Jones’ admission

**Liverpool fans, like many others, have often been able to ridicule Manchester United defender Phil Jones.**

Sir Alex Ferguson once said the 28-year-old [could be the best player in the club’s history](https://en.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/203772.html), but that has failed to materialise. He has managed to make [224](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/phil-jones/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/117996) appearances for the Red Devils since signing for them in July on 2011, but he has played just twice in the league this season and often seems more well-known for the faces he pulls during games rather than his actual ability.

Now, he has a rather interesting admission. He [told MUTV](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/phil-jones-explains-selections-for-his-mutv-schedule-takeover) that he had the chance to sign for the Anfield outfit before deciding to make the switch to United instead.

This has piqued the attention of the supporters of the Merseyside club and, as you can imagine, they have been reacting to his comments in their droves on Twitter. You can see some of the best responses from the social media platform below.
