Although the transfer ban has severely limited Chelsea’s activity in the market this summer, it has opened an exciting door for the plethora of young talent coming through at the club, with Mason Mount being one of the notable exceptions.
The 20-year-old creative midfielder announced himself to the English game last season with Derby County, where he proved to be a pivotal player for the Rams as the Championship side made it to the play-off final, only to lose against Aston Villa under Frank Lampard.
Mount scored 11 and assisted six in all competitions for Derby (per Transfermarkt), and this summer the youngster has committed his long-term future to Chelsea by penning a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge (per the Guardian). Now, as Chelsea fan Laurenz Vescoli of Two-Footed Talk says below, it could be one of the best moves the Blues make this summer.
Obviously, the Blues are normally a big player in the transfer market, but this ban could prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Blues, who head into the unknown for 2019/20.
