Many seem to regard Liverpool’s summer recruitment as perhaps their best ever run of signings. Indeed, after such a good season last year, FSG really have backed Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market, giving him the kind of money to totally upgrade his squad ahead of what could be a genuine title challenge.
The big money arrivals of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alisson Becker have given the Reds a team to be reckoned with and it’s hard to look past last year’s Champions League finalists as the main challengers for Manchester City’s Premier League crown.
Their progression under Klopp has been astounding and it’s a far cry from the infamous transfer committee in place during Brendan Rodgers’ tenure at Anfield. During that period, the Merseyside giants often made bizarre additions and not all too many of them worked out.
So much so that we recently asked our readers whether or not they regretted the club’s 2014 move for Alberto Moreno. The defender, whose terrible performance against former club Sevilla in the Europa League final will live long in the memory, has since lost his place to Andy Robertson, making his presence at Melwood rather forlorn.
As you can see from the results of our poll, a stunning 92% of polled supporters don’t think the Spaniard has at all been worth it. Now, it’ll be interesting to see just how long he lasts, considering Robertson’s great form.
