[![Frédéric Piquionne](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/1228887146000-150x150.jpg)](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premiership/portsmouth-chase-lyon-striker-piquionne/attachment/1228887146000/)Rumours are buzzing around The Transfer Tavern that [Portsmouth](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/category/premiership/portsmouth/) are set to bring  an experienced French striker to the Premier League club from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

Hacks from *[L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Allos/TRANSFERT_IMP_1.html)* newspaper are convinced OL front man Frédéric Piquionne “could shortly” join Pompey at Fratton Park.

Bernard Lacombe, the special adviser to Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, said yesterday that the ex-Saint-Etienne star had been in contact with clubs in England and Spain.

According to “L’Equipe sources”, Pompey and the deposed [Ligue 1](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/category/european/ligue-1/) champions are negotiating a loan move with the option of a permanent transfer.

Lacombe says the deal for Piquionne to move to the [Premiership](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/category/premiership/) could be completed in the next three days.

So how many pints of what, were needed before this tale took shape? Could Pompey finally make a splash in the transfer market? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
