Portsmouth have been showing interest in Ross County defender Josh Reid, according to a report in the Press and Journal.
Kenny Jackett has a number of key decisions to make between now and the end of the transfer window as Pompey aim to get out of League One next season after two failed play-off attempts.
With the 2020/21 season fast approaching, left-back Reid has now been linked with the Fratton Park club. The 18-year-old made a breakthrough at Ross County last season, making five appearances in the Scottish Premiership after developing through the club’s youth academy.
The Dingwall-born defender is contracted to the Premiership outfit until the summer of 2021 and is valued by Transfermarkt at £45,000.
A potential move for the youngster would see Jackett bolster his defensive options, with Lee Brown currently the only recognised left-back in his squad.
A move for an inexperienced teenage defender seems unlikely to get pulses racing among the Fratton Park faithful, particularly with little transfer activity so far in this window.
Reid may be a prospect but it will probably take more than his possible arrival to generate excitement among Pompey fans who are desperate to see them finally clinch promotion to the Championship – something which could be an uphill challenge unless they strengthen significantly over the coming weeks.
