Having missed out on promotion from League One this season to the Championship, Jackett will now look to the summer transfer window to potentially bolster his squad options and make necessary additions ahead of next term.
One potential player to arrive at Fratton Park is Raggett, having seen his contract come to an end at Norwich City as confirmed via the club’s website.
Having spent last season on loan with Portsmouth, Raggett made a total of 26 appearances in League One and played a part in the club’s qualification for the play-offs, where they were beaten by Oxford United at the semi-final stage.
Portsmouth News are now claiming that Jackett is pushing forward with interest and that ‘initial talks’ have gone well over a permanent deal.
The report also goes on to state that the defender may be forced to take a ‘significant’ wage drop to move to the League One outfit.
Jackett needs to quickly bring in players and build his squad for next season. The disappointment of this term is still very much in the minds of fans and the club’s start to next season will be a test to see if those fans can be appeased and believe that a third consecutive failure to gain promotion does not happen.
The addition of Raggett would surely be a positive one, considering he helped the team keep 11 clean sheets in 26 league games last term whilst also chipping in with two goals and two assists.
Pompey will hope to get a deal concluded as soon as possible.
