Portsmouth will not look to send any other players out on loan this summer after the proposed loan exit of Duncan Turnbull.
Kenny Jackett’s side failed to gain promotion from League One to the Championship for a second consecutive season and the pressure is now firmly mounting on the much experienced manager’s shoulders to ensure promotion next term.
With the summer transfer window open, Pompey have thus far signed just one player in Sean Raggett, whilst multiple players have called time on their spell at Fratton Park including the likes of Christian Burgess, Brandon Haunstrup, Oli Hawkins and Steve Seddon.
With the little transfer developments happening at the League One club at present, Jackett’s assistant Joe Gallen has now discussed the potential of further player exits, whilst confirming the club are actively looking to send Turnbull out on loan.
He said ‘We probably won’t (send any players out on loan).
‘We’re probably looking to keep everybody we’ve got, which isn’t many.
‘With Duncan, I’m not sure a lot of people know about him. So he needs to get out there somewhere along the line, play for someone on a Saturday afternoon and build up his reputation.
‘He needs to build up his experience, so he’s the one who more than likely will go out loan. It’d be a loan where we could get him back immediately if we needed to.’
Turnbull is currently on trial with Havant and Waterlooville where is now expected to end up on a short term loan deal.
Portsmouth need to sign some players. Little has been done to improve things and that must change, dramatically and quick.
With the season fast approaching, the pressure is now on Jackett to improve his squad and if they approach the new season with the current crop of players, fans could be in for a long up and down season.
