Portsmouth could re-sign defender Sean Raggett as manager Kenny Jackett looks to find a suitable replacement for Christian Burgess, according to Portsmouth News.
Having missed out on promotion from League One this season, Pompey boss Jackett will likely seek to address some key issues in his squad. One of those is to shore up his defensive options, having seen Christian Burgess leave the club for a move to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise.
A potential summer arrival could be Raggett, who played alongside Burgess last term on loan from Norwich City.
Raggett, who is 26 years old, has recently seen his contract come to an end with Norwich, although the option to extend that deal by 12 months is still pending.
Having arrived on loan last summer at Fratton Park, made 28 appearances in League One and played a part in the club’s qualification for the play-offs, where they were ousted by Oxford United at the semi-final stage.
A potential move for Raggett could hand Jackett a tried and trusted option at the heart of defence but the Pompey boss may also have to replace Brandon Haunstrup this summer, with the left-back now said to be on the verge of a move to Scottish side Kilmarnock.
Raggett is a safe option for Jackett to bring in this summer as he knows the defender’s capabilities and, with Burgess having left, it seems like a deal that must be done.
Pompey fans will be sad to have seen their play-off chances fail and signings will be key this summer to see if they can put themselves back in a similar position and go one better next term.
