# West Ham: Declan Rice is ‘dead set’ on leaving this summer

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) star Declan Rice is ‘dead set’ on leaving east London, as a report shares news from ‘sources close’ to the player.**

### The Lowdown: Rice’s West Ham future uncertain…

Now into the final 16 months of his contract at the London Stadium, the England international is being[repeatedly linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-city-news/declan-rice-transfer-news-rumours-updates/) with moves to Arsenal, among other clubs.

Manchester City are also [allegedly](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-city-news/declan-rice-transfer-news-rumours-updates/) keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who [looks set to become](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-hope-to-blow-arsenal-out-of-the-water-in-declan-rice-race-hes-dead-set-on-move/#:~:text=set%20to%20be%20one%20of%20the%20most%20sought%2Dafter%20players%20in%20world%20football%20this%20summer) one of the summer transfer window’s hot topics.

The [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) relegation battlers may be resigned to losing their club captain, who has made no secret of his [desire to compete](https://talksport.com/football/1263513/declan-rice-leaving-west-ham-champions-league-trophies-england/) at the highest level.

### The Latest: Rice is ‘dead set’ on West Ham exit…

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-hope-to-blow-arsenal-out-of-the-water-in-declan-rice-race-hes-dead-set-on-move/), West Ham should gear up for a possible exit from Rice, with the player apparently ‘dead set’ on moving this year.

This comes as Manchester United also eye a move for the 24-year-old, with ‘sources close’ to the Irons skipper detailing he has his eye on a departure from east London.

### The Verdict: Potential blow for West Ham…

[David Moyes](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/david-moyes/) looks likely to be handed a potentially big blow this summer if Rice get his apparent wish to depart the London Stadium.

Despite his [much-heralded performances,](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/07/tony-cascarino-full-of-praise-for-superb-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) there is an argument the West Ham star still isn’t mentioned enough alongside the world’s foremost defensive midfield stars, with some members of the press calling him ‘[underrated’](https://twitter.com/angelomangiante/status/1599507544913117184) in what he does.

The Three Lions ace is a crucial player at West Ham, currently standing out as their best performer by average [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Show/England-West-Ham) match rating whilst making more tackles per 90 than anyone in claret and blue.

Rice has also averaged a higher pass completion percentage ([89.5%](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Show/England-West-Ham)) than all of his team-mates with over one appearance, marking him out as West Ham’s most viable asset on paper.

Whatever the wider verdict, losing Rice will surely come as a bitter pill to swallow for Irons supporters.
