Tottenham striker Harry Kane is likely to sign a new contract at Spurs instead of leaving the club, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed.

The Lowdown: Kane's future unknown

In recent times, rumours have emerged linking the England captain with a move to Bayern Munich, as they look to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Kane's current Spurs deal only runs until the summer of 2024, so time is beginning to tick by, in terms of nailing down his long-term future in north London.

It is a saga that is likely to be ongoing but a positive update has emerged.

The Latest: Sheth makes positive claim

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Sheth said that he believes Kane is more likely to extend his stay at Spurs than move on to pastures new:

"I think what the talk is more leaning towards now compared to last summer, when there was talk of Harry Kane leaving the football club, is is Harry Kane going to sign an extended contract at Tottenham Hotspur as opposed to leaving?

"So I think, for me, that’s the direction it seems to be moving in more."

The Verdict: Right decision

Kane signing a new contract at Spurs would make complete sense, considering he is now playing Champions League football and is thriving under Antonio Conte.

While the lure of playing for a club of Bayern's prestige can be great, they are going through a rocky spell at the moment, not winning in four Bundesliga matches, and they aren't the force they once were.

Kane feels like a player who would rather stay in England and look to break as many records as possible - he is now 71 goals behind Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League strikes  - and it would be a surprise if he didn't commit his future to Spurs.
