West Ham United are believed to be eyeing up a possible move for Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh, according to Graeme Bailey.

The Lowdown: Drameh profiled

The 20-year-old right-back has been with the Whites since 2020. He has made seven senior appearances at Elland Road, while also enjoying a successful loan spell in the Championship with Cardiff City last season, winning the Young Player of the Season and Player of the Season awards in south Wales.

It looks as if an exit from Yorkshire in 2023 could be on the cards, though, with the London Stadium seemingly a possible destination for the youngster.

The Latest: West Ham keen on Drameh

Bailey was speaking to TEAMtalk regarding Drameh, claiming that a new contract at Elland Road is looking unlikely. The journalist shared what he has been ‘told’ regarding multiple interested parties, which includes West Ham.

Bailey outlined: “Drameh has just over 18 months left on his deal, and he knows of the interest in him which is widespread. There are clubs all over who seen Drameh as an option.

“Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace see him as one for the future, whilst there are the likes of Middlesbrough and Norwich in the Championship who I am told also like him.

“However, the 20-year-old does have options abroad – I am told that the options are plentiful and not just Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig but from clubs in France and Italy too.”

The Verdict: Payback for Perkins?

The Hammers weren’t happy over the summer when Leeds signed young forward Sonny Perkins, so they may see a move for Drameh as potential revenge on their Premier League rivals. The two clubs are yet to agree on a fee for Perkins, with West Ham wanting a seven-figure sum for the player.

Hailed as 'excellent' last season by then-Cardiff boss Steve Morison, Drameh appears to be a star in the making following his displays in south Wales earlier this year.

Therefore, a swoop for the 20-year-old could be a shrewd one, although it looks as if GSB and West Ham will need to fend off a number of clubs for the defender’s signature.
