# Tottenham: Spurs hatch clever Pedro Porro transfer plan

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) are hatching a clever plan to sign Sporting Lisbon right-back and Antonio Conte transfer target Pedro Porro.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs eye Porro move…

Spurs are reportedly [very interested](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/premier-league-spurs-step-up-pedro-porro-transfer-talks-latest-rumours/) in signing the former Man City defender as sporting director Fabio Paratici and the club work on signing wing-back upgrades.

Conte is apparently [dissatisfied](https://www.90min.com/posts/tottenham-ask-inter-availability-key-player) with current senior options Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal as the likes of Porro and Inter Milan star[Denzel Dumfries](https://www.90min.com/posts/tottenham-ask-inter-availability-key-player) become linked with moves to north London.

### The Latest: Tottenham hatch Porro plan…

According to newspaper Correio da Manhã, via [Sport Witness,](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-decided-sign-player-january-plan-use-clever-trick-gain-big-discount/) the Lilywhites have apparently hatched a clever plan to sign the 23-year-old.

Spurs allegedly want to use former forward Marcus Edwards as a pawn in negotiations to whittle down Porro’s price tag, with Edwards’ sell-on clause proving crucial.

When Sporting signed the 24-year-old from Spurs, the north Londoners were promised 50% of a future sale, yet Paratici and co are now willing to forego that agreement for a discount on Porro.

This comes as Conte has green-lit a move for the latter man, making Porro a transfer ‘priority’.

### The Verdict: Get it done?

Sacrificing a marginal profit line for signing one of Portugal’s most in-form full-backs could be worth it.

Called [‘sensational’](https://twitter.com/ZachLowy/status/1441488518350458882) by members of the media, Porro has four assists to his name already for Sporting and ranks in their top two for shots at goal and key passes made per 90 [(WhoScored).](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/296/Show/Portugal-Sporting-CP)

A highly attack-minded defender, he could be perfect if Conte wishes to seriously bolster his attacking options.
