# Tottenham: Spurs eyeing double transfer swoop

**Reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has shared [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/)‘s transfer plans as the club, and by extension sporting director Fabio Paratici, eye a double move for one position this coming summer.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs need a defender…

Going by recent statistics, it is evident that Spurs and [Antonio Conte](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/antonio-conte/) require some defensive reinforcements.

Alarmingly, the north Londoners have [conceded](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) more [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) goals (35) than any other team in the top ten this season, including four in a [recent thumping](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12808557/leicester-4-1-tottenham-premier-league-highlights) at the hands of Leicester City.

There has been some improvement in this regard lately with [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/spielplandatum/verein/148) clean sheets in their last four league games, but defenders like [Eric Dier](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/eric-dier-news-rumours-latest/) and [Clement Lenglet](https://tbrfootball.com/awful-premier-league-pundit-stunned-by-145k-a-week-tottenham-player-tonight/) have been criticised for some performances.

### The Latest: Tottenham planning double centre-back move…

According to Gold, writing in a[football.london Q&A](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/lucas-moura-fenerbahce-tottenham-transfer-26292295), Spurs and Paratici are targeting two centre-backs this summer – one on the left-side and another who’s more right-sided.

He explained: *“The plan, as I understand it, is for Spurs to bring in a left-sided centre-back and one who can play either on the right or centrally. I’d expect there to be a departure or two in that department as well this summer.”*

### The Verdict: Good news…

Spurs have long been linked with the addition of a world class centre-back, with their former boss Jose Mourinho once [taking a real interest](https://www.footballinsider247.com/skriniar-mourinho-spearhead-tottenham-pursuit/) in Slovakia international Milan Skriniar.

The Lilywhites have since signed both Lenglet on loan from Barcelona and Cristian Romero from Atalanta in that time, but the latter has [shown disciplinary weaknessses](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/323663/Show/Cristian-Romero) and been culpable of picking up [needless red cards](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/cristian-romero-tottenham-red-card-26163649).

Also, the former has arguably [failed to impress](https://www.footballfancast.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-jamie-ohara-slams-imposter-clement-lenglet-talksport-antonio-conte-alasdair-gold) consistently, and we believe that the likes of Marc Guehi, or Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni, would be desirable additions to the squad.

Both men have been [mentioned as Paratici targets](https://twitter.com/LastWordOnSpurs/status/1624800635672461319), and we believe that Spurs simply must add more quality to that area of the squad.
