# Wolves: Fosun eyeing Felipe move after Matheus Cunha

**[Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) are still in the hunt to sign Atletico Madrid defender Felipe after moving for his teammate Matheus Cunha, according to reports.**

### The Lowdown: Lopetegui seals Cunha deal…

As reliably reported by [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/wolves-agree-deal-to-sign-matheus-cunha-on-loan-from-atletico-madrid-g688pmtcj), the Old Gold have ‘sealed’ their first signing of the Julen Lopetegui era with an initial loan deal for Cunha which could become permanent for £35m.

This after being repeatedly [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/premier-league-wolves-liam-keen-matheus-cunha-transfer-update-latest-rumours/) with the South American amid Wolves’ hunt for more firepower in the attacking areas, especially considering that they’re currently the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/)‘s lowest goalscorers with just [eight](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) all season.

However, he isn’t the only Atletico player who could be heading to Molineux, with Wolves and owners Fosun International by extension still very much chasing Felipe.

### The Latest: Wolves eye Felipe move…

It is believed that Lopetegui’s side remain ‘interested’ in the [£124,000-per-week](https://www.capology.com/club/atletico-madrid/salaries/) player, who is being heavily tipped to move on from the Metropolitano Stadium.

[Goal](https://www.goal.com/br/not%C3%ADcias/de-saida-do-atletico-felipe-e-alvo-de-brasileiros-mas-quer-ficar-na-europa/blt85b86335b8bc998d) name Wolves as the sole European club who could grant Felipe’s wish of remaining on this continent as a number of Brazilian sides also eye a move.

It’s added that the Old Gold ‘consulted’ on Atletico’s defender recently, presumably meaning they’ve made contact over his possible signing, although talks are not ‘advanced’ yet.

### The Verdict: Make the move?

Felipe’s current deal expires in [2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/felipe/profil/spieler/156501), and at 33-years-old, his side have little leeway to demand an extortionate fee for his services.

An experienced [La Liga winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/felipe/erfolge/spieler/156501), the Brazilian could bring a degree of know-how and winning mentality to Lopetegui’s dressing room, as well as greater defensive solidarity.

The 6 ft 3 colossus certainly has the physicality to succeed in English football, and this transfer could be a fairly low-risk one financially.
