# Wolves: Old Gold set for triple transfer attempt by January 1

**[Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) want ‘at least three players signed’ by January 1 as manager [Julen Lopetegui](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/julen-lopetegui/) presents his demands to the Molineux board, according to reports.**

### The Lowdown: Old Gold facing drop…

It’s been a rough start to this[Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) campaign for the Old Gold who currently sit bottom of the top flight table, scoring [fewer goals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) than any other side in the division.

Fosun International, as a result, have turned to Europa League-winning boss Lopetegui to help turn around their fortunes and[reports suggest](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/premier-league-wolves-everton-leeds-united-matheus-cunha-transfer-latest/) he could be set for January transfer backing.

They are apparently in [pole position](https://twitter.com/samleveridge/status/1602978978167504899?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1602978978167504899%7Ctwgr%5Eb3c38796be9533eaa5f51464133b9ddc1f87e161%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leedsallover.com%2Fmatheus-cunha-development-emerges-in-the-last-24-hours-as-leeds-united-wolves-and-everton-circle%2F) to sign Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha with [other targets](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2022/12/16/wolves-interested-in-manchester-united-right-back-aaron-wan-bissaka/) consistently being leaked to the media.

### The Latest: Wolves set for triple transfer attempt by January 1…

According to the [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63999749), Wolves chiefs want ‘at least’ three player signed and sealed as soon as the window opens on January 1.

It’s added that the target will be six major additions in total by the end of next month as Lopetegui makes a presentation of his demands to the board – with the Spaniard handing in his list of targets.

### The Verdict: Ambition…

Hiring a coach like Lopetegui with some European pedigree and real experience abroad was an ambitious move by Fosun, but the former Sevilla manager will need financial support if he is to turn the tide.

The BBC’s update appears to highlight that Wolves intend to provide Lopetegui with the necessary backing, and we believe attacking additions are an absolute priority.
