According to the Daily Express, Italian giants Lazio are set to meet Antonio Candreva and his representatives this week as they try to tie down the 27-year-old.
The Italian international midfielder was a star performer in an underperforming Lazio side last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine as they finished Serie A in a disappointing ninth.
That form highlighted a lot of European clubs and Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham were believed to be interested from the Premier League alone.
However the Stadio Olimpico-based club had no interest in selling their prized asset and bosses at the club promised the player a lucrative new deal should he remain loyal.
Reports suggest the player will meet with the club’s president Claudio Lotito this week to discuss the new deal.
The deal is expected to see the players’ wage rise from £900,000-a-season to £1.6 million-a-season and is likely to keep the Rome-born attacker at the club until 2019.
There are even suggestions that the club would be prepared to make the influential midfielder their captain in an attempt to stave off interest from the Premier League.
