The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are waiting for manager Arsene Wenger to start spending the big bucks having signed his new two-year deal on the proviso that there would be unprecedented spending this summer.
The Gunners have already brought in left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free this summer, but is yet to spend any of his supposed £200m budget.
That could change soon, though, with Marca reporting that there could be mutual interest between Wenger and one of his targets over a deal ahead of the new season.
The newspaper claim that Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, who the Gunners are said to be keen on, is interested in a move to the Premier League, having made just 14 La Liga starts for the Catalan giants last season.
The £12.75m-rated midfielder can operate either through the middle or out on the wing and could be a fantastic asset to Wenger who has struggled to settle on a centre-midfield pairing over the last season.
Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think a deal for the Barcelona man would be viable? Is centre midfield an area Wenger needs to look at this summer? Let us know in the comments below…
