Excitement continues to build in the Football Transfer Tavern, with it now being just two weeks until Premier League football returns to our screens.
With all the business being conducted by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, it is easy to overlook Everton – a side who impressed everyone last season with a new brand of exciting offensive football, and narrowly missed out on the coveted Champions League places.
Roberto Martinez looks set to go into the new season with the same side that did so well in the previous campaign, but has crucially secured the services of Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku on permanent deals, whilst Ross Barkley has been tied to a new long term contract.
Martinez has impressed everyone since his arrival on Merseyside, receiving the backing of all supporters and players.
The fact he was allowed to smash the clubs transfer record to sign Lukaku for £28million suggests he has the unconditional backing of chairman Bill Kenwright, who has been forthright in his views Martinez will be the man to take the Toffees to the Champions League.
It may prove a step too far this season, with rivals continuing to strengthen – but Everton are certainly a side to keep an eye out for, following their performances during the 2013-14 campaign.
We have put together what we consider to be their strongest XI ahead of the big kick off.
