Tottenham are keeping an eye on Athletico Madrid’s former Spain U-21 international striker Adrian according to the Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals for Athletico this season and impressed scouts from all over Europe during the 2011 UEFA U-21 European Championships scoring 5 goals to claim the golden boot.
Emmanuel Adebayor has been in terrific form for Spurs this season but many believe the Togo internationals wage demands will scupper any permanent deal.
Meaning Harry Redknapp will be looking elsewhere for a striker of real quality to push Spurs to another hopefully more successful title challenge.
The 24-year-old Spaniard may be the answer as Redknapp has a history of picking out relatively unknown players and turning them into household names.
The Metro reported of interest from Manchester City for Adrian – well which striker aren’t Man City linked with – which prompted Athletico Madrid to start proceedings of increasing the strikers current £15m buy-out clause which they admit won’t be enough to deter Europe’s big clubs.
Athletico wish to keep Adrian for the long-term especially with many clubs declaring an interest in their £30m forward Falcao.
Surely Tottenham is a more realistic destination for Adrian as Man City amongst others will surely be looking for a name which will sell a few more shirts. Adrian could flourish at White Hart Lane and may just become the missing piece of a Spurs Premier League winning puzzle.
