Nicklas Bendtner was a summer transfer target for Blackburn Rovers, and that the Lancashire based club were planning a £15 million move for the Big Dane.
However, it would appear that Bendtner may have other plans. Reports today are suggesting that Bendtner is already pushing for a move away from the Gunners, with Germany his preferred port of call. Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg, are currently on red-alert whilst they wait for news of the striker’s impending departure.
The news is somewhat disappointing for Blackburn. Rovers are at the wrong end of the table, and concerning themselves mainly with Premiership survival right now, but the club’s Indian owners are desperate to sign a ‘big name’ player to encourage some sort of revival. Much has been made of past approaches for Kaka and Ronaldinho, but Bendtner was considered a more realistic sort of target.
The news does seem to prove still further that Bendtner will be on his way out of the Emirates come August, and it’s likely he’ll be joined by a host of other Arsenal flops including Adrey Arshavin, Abou Diaby and Gael Clichy. It’s become pretty apparent over the last few days that the current Arsenal squad needs a shake up, if it is to compete with the big boys. Bendtner would be an unfortunate casualty in the battle for trophy’s next season.
The Transfer Tavern’s Arsenal survey seemed to suggest that Arsenal fans would not shed too many tears over Bendtner’s departure, and the majority of comments my article recieved yesterday seemed to suggest that Bendtner had done a decent job, but had come to the end of the line with the Gunners.
It’s unlikely we’ll see any Arsenal fans burning Bendtner shirts. Unless it’s on a Guy on Bonfire Night.
