Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have raised their eyebrows as the news from the Daily Mail filters through that the club are interested in signing Asmir Begovic.
The Stoke City keeper had been linked to Manchester United yet given the form of David De Gea it seems Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to stick with the Spaniard as number one for next season and now Arsenal have begun to consider the £15 million rated Potters keeper as an option for themselves.
Given that Stoke are flirting with Premier League relegation, the future of the keeper is increasingly uncertain with one thing for sure – Begovic is far too good to play in the Championship and now Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for the Bosnian international keeper.
The North London club have been linked to a host of keepers in recent weeks including Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes and Liverpool man Pepe Reina yet the club feel that Begovic is the most easily obtained and are set to launch a bid for the player. Quite what Tony Pulis and indeed what Wojciech Szczesny and his father think of this remains to be seen.
Should Arsenal pay £15m and land Begovic? Do they need him? Rate this rumour below.
