Newcastle United have hit a run of form which has seen the club propel themselves clear of relegation danger for the time being.

Manager Rafa Benitez deserves a heap of credit for turning things round at the club, and while certain off field issues contine to blight the Toon Army, there is light at the end of the tunnel while ever the Spaniard is in charge at St James' Park.

That's not to say that Benitez doesn't need some help though, and the January transfer window could prove a defining time for the Magpies as they look to ensure another successful fight against the drop.

We at the Tavern think the club simply have to invest, and one player think should be high on the agenda is French winger Jonathan Bamba.

The £15m-rated star has been in superb form for French club Lille this term, bagging an impressive seven goals already to really showcase what a talent he can be.

Newcastle are desperate for attacking talent, and Bamba fits the mould of someone Benitez could bring in who would have an immediate impact on the first XI in the North East.

Quick, tricky, and with a keen eye for goal, there is no reason Bamba cannot be a success if he gets a move to the Premier League.

Newcastle fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
