You can’t hear yourself think here in the Transfer Tavern as the Liverpool fans haven’t stopped singing following their 7-6 aggregate victory over Roma which secured their place in the Champions League final.
Following a 5-2 demolition job at Anfield, the Reds did not make things easy for themselves at the Stadio Olimpico with Roma coming out on top, but it wasn’t enough to send the Italians through. Liverpool will meet Real Madrid in Kiev with their sixth European cup on offer.
A key performer for the Italian side was former Manchester City man – Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian forward has netted eight goals in the Champions League including two goals against Jurgen Klopp’s men. The 32-year-old has also enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Serie A, scoring 16 goals.
Chelsea were interested in bringing him back to the Premier League in January, but the forward rejected their advances. Valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, Dzeko could be the perfect signing for Liverpool.
Roberto Firmino is the undisputed number nine on Merseyside, and Klopp desperately lacks quality options up top. Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are out on loan and may not have a future at the club when they return. Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke have just one league goal between them.
Dzeko would allow Klopp to rotate Firmino while keeping a quality option up front. The Bosnian would add another dimension to Liverpool’s attack and help them break down teams when struggling for goals.
Even at 32, he is one of the best finishers in the world and would give Liverpool a much-needed boost in attack.
Liverpool fans, would you be happy to see Edin Dzeko at Anfield? Let us know!
