https://www.premierleague.com/players/4664/Hugo-Lloris/stats?co=1&se=79jIt hasn’t been the best year for Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman has typically been a solid hand for the Lilywhites since his arrival, but he isn’t in the best form of his career.
He made 5 mistakes leading to a goal last season, which is a testament to his lack of form, and so replacing him is something that Tottenham must consider.
Fortunately, there’s no shortage of solutions, and one player that could be perfect is Jack Butland.
Rated at £19.8 million by Transfer Markt, Butland has been an exceptional goalkeeper for Stoke City over the last few years. He’s had his share of injury problems, but he’s always come back stronger than ever before, and that’s a testament to his quality.
The Englishman is truly good enough to play for a top side. He’s a particularly good shot-stopper, but at 6ft4, the Englishman is also very solid from set pieces and at collecting the ball from crosses. He’s also fairly mobile, and so in truth, there’s little that he can’t do.
Furthermore, though he’s been performing at the highest level for a number of years, he’s still just 25-years-old. Lloris came on leaps and bounds at Spurs, and under Mauricio Pochettino, Butland would no doubt continue to improve too. By the time he reaches his peak in a few years, we could be looking at England’s number one and one of Europe’s best.
Given his recent relegation, perhaps Stoke City would be open to a sale at a reduced fee, and so there has never been a better time to snap Butland up.
