Liverpool look like real contenders this season as they seek to overthrow Man City at the top of the pile and win their first Premier League title.

The Reds look to have one of the best attacks in the world in Salah, Firmino and Mane, and there are many in football who believe that those three could fire them to glory.

The pressure is also mounting on manager Jurgen Klopp, who will be expected to deliver the trophies and success this year after three trophyless seasons in charge of the Anfield outfit.

However, we at the Transfer Tavern think things are firmly on the up for the Reds, and that with a couple of things falling into place, they could well find themselves in and among the front runners to claim the Premier League title come May.

With that in mind, we took a look at TWO things Liverpool need to do to ensure they topple City and win their first Premier League title...

Keep their relentless pressure up

The way Liverpool play is to be admired, but it is a tiring way to play football, with their high pressing and intensity something which has become a trademark of Klopp.

However, to keep this going is a big ask, and previously we have seen the Reds fall away when it gets to the important section of the season just after Christmas.

If Liverpool want success, they simply have to maintain this way of playing for the full 10 months of a campaign.

Make Anfield a fortress

Anfield was historically known as one of the toughest places to visit in world football, and while it has been getting back that way of late, the Reds need to ensure that pressure for visiting teams continues to grow.

Liverpool will need to be winning their home games, and ensuring Anfield is one of the most feared places in the game is key to any success they aspire to.
