20-year-old midfield star could be sold this summer, Chelsea reportedly have long-held interest

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern want their side to sign at least one new midfielder this summer…

Tiemoue Bakayoko looks to be edging closer to a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, but according to A Bola, he could potentially be joined by another midfield star.

A Bola are reporting that Chelsea are amongst the sides interested in midfielder Ruben Neves, who could be the next Porto player sold this summer. Liverpool are also said to be keen.

Neves has been a star in Portugal for several years now, having first impressed as a 17-year-old. Since then, over the last three years, he has really matured into one of Europe’s brightest midfield talents.

Despite his tender years, he has made just shy of 60 first team league appearances, proving just how highly he is rated in his native Portugal. A strong passer and tackler, Neves could be an excellent partner for N’Golo Kante next season.

His arrival would almost certainly force out one of Nemanja Matic or Cesc Fabregas, with Chelsea limited in terms of available positions within the heart of the midfield. Our landlord, though, thinks that he would be a huge upgrade on either of the duo – not least because of his age.
