Newcastle United

£20m budget means Newcastle United need to prioritise one area in the transfer market – Agreed?

The Toon Army here in the Tavern have become beyond angered at their sides current run of form, having taken 1 point from their last 6 outings. Rafa Benitez hasn’t been short on displaying his strong feelings towards the lack of funds and quality players during his time at the club, with a much needed revamp required on Tyneside.

The punters here in the Tavern are aggrieved with the lack of support that Rafa Benitez has received during his time at the club, especially for a manager who has the potential to take them to the highest level.

However, due to the recent approach made by Businesswoman Amanda Staveley in her £200 million bid to buy the club, the potential funds could be about to tickle Benitez’ fancy but, should Mike Ashley still be in charge come January time he may just be forced to spend.

Reports in the Mirror now suggests that Benitez is demanding a £20 million budget for January to allow him to strengthen the team. Although he’d surely love to bolster all areas, he’s focused on acquiring a striker, playmaker and a left-back as the main signs for improvement, due to their evident failings in both conceding and scoring goals.

Should Benitez be denied this offer and fail to strengthen the areas mentioned, the Toon Army will struggle to keep up with the surrounding pack which could condemn another relegation, due to fellow scrappers proving not be shy of spending in previous windows.

So, with Newcastle on a horrific slump, which position do you feel is vital that Benitez strengthens?
