The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern still have high hopes for Jack Wilshere…
The Englishman was a top talent during his teenage years, and whilst he has suffered from injury problems lately, he looked very good whilst on loan at Bournemouth last season.
However, it doesn’t appear as though the club share the same optimism about the Englishman, with the Daily Star reporting that the club are yet to offer him an extension to his deal that concludes at the end of the season.
Significantly, as a result, Wilshere is said to have given up on the prospect of agreeing fresh terms with the club, with a move to West Ham now on his mind.
With no indication of Arsenal’s perspective changing, perhaps it is time for Wilshere to begin preparations to leave the club. West Ham would be a good home for him, allowing him to remain in London whilst also offering a chance at first-team football.
Arsenal rated him at £20 million over the summer, but for West Ham, he could be available on a free should they make their move at the end of the season. In that case, Arsenal would stand to make no profit on a player that just a few years ago would have been worth far more than that.
The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too happy about this…
Jack Wilshere, on his day, remains a top player, but injury has certainly taken its toll.
He hasn’t reached the level that was expected of him a few years ago, and Arsene Wenger will no doubt be frustrated about that.
He’s still good enough to do a job for a mid-table team, though, and West Ham could be the benefactors of a cut-price deal for him.
