Jose Mourinho is a manager that often divides opinion amongst the fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Rarely one to hold his tongue, Mourinho often goes on lengthy tangents about players in the press, and the latest player to suffer his wrath is Anthony Martial.
Speaking earlier this week after Martial’s disappointing performance against Liverpool, Mourinho said: “I don’t think he lost his focus. I think he just didn’t catch with both hands a big opportunity he had.”
He continued: “We have still five players for these positions. I cannot give to one player chances to play and kill the others”.
Whilst not quite hanging Martial out to dry, the Man Utd boss clearly isn’t happy with his performances as of late – and that is what has led to his dismissal from the first team in recent weeks.
However, according to the Times, Martial isn’t quite ready to throw in the towel at Old Trafford quite yet. Whilst the publication does note that Martial is ‘deeply frustrated’ at Mourinho’s comments – the Frenchman also maintains optimism about his time in Manchester.
The Times is reporting that: ‘He [Martial] is happy living in Manchester and is keen to rectify the situation”.
Quite clearly, Martial isn’t pleased with Mourinho – but the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted that the Frenchman is willing to keep fighting for his place. After all, Martial impressed last season under Louis van Gaal – as the video below shows…
Our landlord thinks that it is only a matter of time before Martial starts firing again…
