The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting big things from Luke Shaw when he moved to Old Trafford…
Having impressed at Southampton whilst still a teenager, Shaw earned a big money move to Man Utd – and was expected to make a real impact. However, since that point, injury woes alongside managerial change have made life very tough for the Englishman.
An injury ruled him out for the last part of the season for Man Utd, and given that Jose Mourinho has rarely trusted Shaw so far, many in the pub were expecting him to leave the club this summer.
However, it appears as though the player is doing all he can to earn Mourinho’s trust, with the Daily Mail reporting that he is back in training this summer as he looks to build up his fitness ahead of pre-season. Significantly, the Daily Mail note that he is determined to impress Mourinho and feature next season, and so he is working to that end.
This has delighted the fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many in the pub confident that Shaw can still make it at the top.
He is just 21-years-old, of course, and so he still has several years to reach his peak – but he desperately needs to get past his frequent injury woes in order to get back to his best. Our landlord thinks that the sort of work that he is doing this summer is exactly what is required.
