The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting big things from Andreas Pereira…
The attacking midfielder has slowly been gaining a head of steam at Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho clearly rating him highly.
A fantastic passer and crosser, his creativity is simply fantastic, and at just 21-years-old, he’s only going to get better.
Unfortunately, though, his role in the first team this season is far from guaranteed. Man Utd have a ton of great players, particularly in the attack, and so he is unlikely to be a regular. There was no real surprise, then, when he was linked with a move to Valencia. The opportunity to get first team football would be difficult to pass up, you would think.
However, according to ESPN, that isn’t the case – with sources revealing to the site that he would prefer to stay at Man Utd this season rather than go on loan. Though he wants first team assurances from Jose Mourinho, he reportedly wants to fight for his place this term.
Pereira clearly has the confidence in himself, and that is very important in the modern game. Mourinho has previously reportedly been keen to hang onto him this season, so it remains to be seen how this will pan out.
Pereira clearly has a very bright future, though it remains to be seen where that future will begin to take place.
A move away will give him first team football, but the opportunity to stay and learn from Jose Mourinho could also be important.
It’s a tough decision to make, but Mourinho and Pereira will know best.
