The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Hector Bellerin to stay at the club this summer…
However, it doesn’t look like Wenger will be able to hold on to the defender without a fight, with the Independent reporting that Barcelona are keen on him. The English publication report that the Catalan giants are looking to make a £45 million move this summer, which will have to be made quickly if they want to seal the deal, and it is also said that Bellerin is keen on the idea of a move.
Bellerin, of course, came through the developmental system at Barcelona prior to his move to Arsenal, with the defender one of many young players to emerge from the famous La Masia academy in recent years.
It has been at Arsenal, though, where Bellerin has really made his name. Given a chance by Arsene Wenger, the Spaniard has flourished in London – quickly emerging as one of Europe’s best defenders.
Electric pace down the flanks, Bellerin is most efficient when going forward, able to provide Arsenal with a real attacking threat down the right-hand side. That being said, he has seemingly been working on the defensive side of his game as of late, and has consistently put in good performances at the back over the last year.
Our landlord is fearful that the defender may be unable to resist the allure of a move back to Spain, but it seems clear that Wenger will do all he can to retain the defender.
