The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have had some pretty harsh things to say about Jose Mourinho as of late…
The Portuguese manager’s harsh criticism of Luke Shaw in recent weeks has drawn the ire of the punters in the Transfer Tavern, with the Man Utd boss seemingly unhappy about Shaw’s lack of commitment and quality this season.
However, it seems as though the players themselves have responded positively to the comments – with defender Eric Bailly recently discussing Mourinho’s utilisation of player critique.
Speaking to the Premier League (via the Daily Mail), he said: “We are here to learn”.
Elaborating, he continued: “We have a great future ahead of us so it is important to listen to the coach’s advice…Every player should receive some criticism because we aren’t perfect, so we have to accept the criticism”.
It seems as though Man Utd’s players, or at least Bailly, are having the desired reaction to Mourinho’s recent comments. It is a tactic that has so often worked in the past, and it seems as though the manager’s talents are yet to fade.
That being said, results certainly need to pick up at Old Trafford. Currently sat in 4th place in the Premier League, the Red Devils desperately need to improve between now and the end of the season – with a top four finish up for grabs.
A tough game against Chelsea this weekend should help to spell out their credentials, with nothing but a win acceptable according to the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern.
