£220,000-per-week player is reportedly ‘unlikely’ to play for Man Utd next season

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first season in England…

One of Europe’s most recognisable and deadly forwards, there was a real anticipation in the Transfer Tavern prior to his move, though nobody expected him to do as well he did. Scorer of 17 league goals throughout the campaign, there is no doubting that he was the Red Devils’ main man.

However, it appears as though the Swedish forward, who reportedly earns £220,000-per-week, has played his last game for the club, with the Times reporting that Ibrahimovic is ‘unlikely’ to play for Man Utd again after his recent knee injury. His contract, of course, expires this summer, and it appears as though an extension is not on the cards.

It would certainly be a shame for Ibrahimovic’s Man Utd career to end like that, given how much he contributed all season long. The good news for Man Utd is that they were still able to achieve their main target, the Europa League, without his goals.

Despite his seemingly impending departure, the Man Utd fans in the pub are still feeling confident. They expect a big replacement to come in this summer, and with Antoine Griezmann being touted with a move over the next few weeks, there is a real sense of optimism ahead of next season. For Ibrahimovic, mind, our landlord is expecting the Swede to get one last payday overseas.
