23-year-old reportedly hopeful of providing big Chelsea boost ahead of Tottenham clash

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty anxious ahead of their side’s clash with Tottenham on Sunday…

The Blues are in pretty poor shape ahead of the clash, with a number of unavailable players giving rise to quite the first team selection dilemma for Antonio Conte, whilst much has been made of Chelsea’s misgivings on the pitch so far this season.

Indeed, it’s a crucial time in the season already for the Blues, and a loss against Tottenham could spell disaster.

However, fortunately, Antonio Conte could receive a huge boost over the coming days – with the Telegraph reporting that midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is hopeful of being able to declare himself fit for the game.

This is significant given Chelsea’s lack of options in the heart of the midfield, with N’Golo Kante currently Chelsea’s only fully fit midfielder.

Bakayoko has, of course, yet to feature for the Blues – having spent much of the summer recovering from surgery on an injury picked up prior to his Chelsea switch.

It would certainly be a tough test, having to make your debut against Tottenham, but Conte may have little choice if the Frenchman is available.

Landlord’s Verdict

Bakayoko really impressed for Monaco last season, and if he is able to adapt to Conte’s style quickly and he is fully fit, there is no reason why he shouldn’t start against Tottenham.

It would be quite the baptism of fire, but the Frenchman may thrive on it, and Chelsea need all the help they can get at the moment.

It would be a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the Chelsea faithful, particularly if he puts on a good showing.
