Newcastle United have all-but secured Premier League football next season and the fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the summer transfer plans the club will lay out in the coming weeks and months.
The Magpies virtually secured their place in the top-flight last weekend against Arsenal, however, were subject to a defeat against Everton on Monday that would have highlighted where Rafa Benitez will need reinforcements.
Newcastle will now be trying to push on and finish as high up the table as they can and one player will be hoping he can make an impact in the final four games of the campaign. According to the club’s official website, Isaac Hayden has admitted he is disappointed to not have had as many starts as he would have liked but is hoping he can continue to push the team forward.
“Obviously I would have liked more of them to be starts, but the teams been doing really well in 2018 so I’ve had to be quite patient, keep working hard and try to get as many opportunities as I can,” he told NUFC.
“But I’ve still played my part in some matches and hopefully I can add to those 25 appearances before the season’s out.
“As a team player, you want the team to do well. Obviously it’s detrimental to yourself on a personal level but on a team level, you really can’t complain.
“So it’s just about supporting the boys, working as hard as you can in training and pushing the lads who are starting to keep their good form up.
“And if you do get the opportunity to play – whether it be five minutes, ten minutes, you have to make sure that you help the team in the best way possible, which I’ve done so far – and long may that continue.”
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be delighted with the contributions the England Under-21 international has offered so far in his time at St. James’ Park and will be pleased he has recognised he will need to make the most of the opportunities handed to him to make an impact. Punters will be hoping he can give Rafa Benitez a positive headache in the final few games as he looks to push his way into the first-team.
