23-year-old wants to play for Klopp next season

The Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot wait to see the side manager Jurgen Klopp assembles over the coming weeks as the Reds prepare for their return to the Champions League in the coming season.

While new players coming in will be the priority, it’s also key that Klopp keep hold of those within his squad who could play a big role across the next campaign.

With that in mind, the agent of Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has affirmed his client’s desire to play in front of the Kop and that he will not be leaving Anfield this summer.

The 23-year-old, who has been linked with a move back to Germany after a mixed first season in the Premier League, has already returned to pre-season training as he looks to battle for the No.1 spot.

Speaking to Goal.com, Karius’ representative Florian Goll said:

“There is absolutely nothing to the rumours that Karius will leave,

“He did not sign at Liverpool for the short term – he believes in the vision of the manager and he wants to be fully fit and prepared to fight for the No.1 position from the first day back.

“He has already started his individual programme to keep fit during the summer, because he wants to be completely ready when pre-season starts.

“He is extremely motivated by the competition.”

After recovering from an early hand injury the German was Klopp’s first choice shot-stopper in the Premier League, however, that lasted for just ten games before Simon Mignolet was brought back in after a mistake from Karius in a 2-2 draw with West Ham in November, he wouldn’t play in the league again.

Reds fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Karius is deserving of a chance in the number one spot next season? Let us know…
