24-year-old Premier League defender should be a top target for Celtic this summer

It has been a season to remember for the Celtic supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern after Brendan Rodgers announced his arrival to the Scottish game by claiming the title at an absolute canter.

Should the Hoops remain unbeaten from their last two games against Partick Thistle and Hearts they will have gone the entire campaign without tasting defeat to cap a remarkable maiden campaign at Celtic Park for the former Liverpool manager.

Rodgers will probably be keen to do better in the Champions League next season after a disappointing exit at the group stages this season and in order to ensure that is the case he will need to enter the transfer market during the summer.

One area of the pitch that Rodgers could look to improve in is at the back and Hull City defender Harry Maguire would represent an astute piece of business by the Hoops’ boss.

The 24-year-old has been in good form for the Tigers during 2016/17 although their relegation now makes it highly unlikely that the Yorkshire-based club will be able to keep hold of him for next season.

Interest is thought to be rife in the Sheffield-born performer and the lure of playing in the Champions League could be a real incentive for Maguire when it comes to choosing his next club during the summer.

A couple of Celtic fans are sat in the Tavern devouring one of the landlord’s famous breakfasts to kick start their day and they are of the belief that the Hull City man would be a real standout performer in the Scottish Premier League, stating that Rodgers would make a real statement of intent if he can pull off a deal.
