Sevilla’s Brazilian forward Luis Fabiano has said he is keen to move to the Premiership and finish his career in England.
The striker has said: “In Seville I’m very well, but I’ve reached the age when I think it is high time to measure myself with a big club. A couple of times I have been close to landing in the English Premier League: Chelsea last year, two years ago it was Manchester City.”
Chelsea and Manchester City will be keeping tabs again following the forward’s comments, though it is believed he is most interested in a move to Manchester United. In an interview with FourFourTwo Fabiano said if he were to move to England he would only play for United as he believes he’d suit their style of play and has great respect for Sir Alex Ferguson.
Spurs were in the frame, but only momentarily as it turned out. As ol’ Fab was quoted as saying,’ There would be no point in me joining Tottenham.’ Which is pretty damning, by anyone’s standards.
Saying he would only play for United may be a bit strong, as they are the least likely to make an offer for him. They have a policy now where they will only sign players with a ‘resale value’. Turning thirty next month means Fabiano doesn’t fit into that category. And with Berbatov’s improved form an approach seems unlikely.
Luis Fabiano has an excellent record at Sevilla. In two hundred league games he’s scored ninety four goals. He is also better than one in two for Brazil, having scored twenty eight in forty three.
Come January, or next summer, Fabiano will be pushing thirty one. So whoever comes in for him will only get maybe three or four good years out of him. I can’t see that putting Chelsea or City off, United I think will probably pass.
