Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have more to discuss than most, with their club seemingly linked with a new player each day.
The £75 million sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona has given the club a reported £150 million transfer kitty, and manager Brendan Rodgers has already been busy.
The Reds have already completed the signings of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic, whilst reports suggest deals for Dejan Lovren, Loic Remy, Divock Origi and Javi Manquillo are close.
And Rodgers doesn’t look set to finish there either with a new left back and a big name ‘marquee signing’ still on his list of priorities.
The Reds could go into the new season with a total of nine new players, meaning supporters could be forgiven for almost forgetting the team that did so well to finish second last season remains almost completely intact – barring the departure of Suarez.
The likes of Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan and Philippe Coutinho are all young players who enjoyed a fantastic 2013/14 campaign and will be looking to build on their performances this time around.
And Steven Gerrard’s international retirement will give the 34-year-old time to put all his energy into the club he loves so dearly.
With just 25 days until the start of the new season, we have identified the Reds’ strongest starting eleven at present for the opening day clash with Southampton.
