The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to take revenge against Roma on Tuesday. The Italian giants spoiled Chelsea’s Champions League party when they last met, with a 3-3 draw putting an end to the Blues’ 100% record in the competition. It wasn’t a terrible result for the club, but in Italy this week, the Blues need to go one better.
A win will put them in a very commanding position, and so Antonio Conte will be desperate to secure just that. His team selection will be interesting to see, then, with a couple of Chelsea’s players in with a chance of being dropped. One such player is Alvaro Morata. Despite the Spaniard enjoying a strong start to the season, he has struggled over the last few weeks, and our landlord has called for Michy Batshuayi to come in in place of him.
Batshuayi has been in lethal form over the last month or so, and despite winning Chelsea the game against Watford last week, he didn’t start against Bournemouth on Saturday. He’s deadly in front of goal, and if given the chance, there is no doubting that he will do his best to score for the Blues. They’ve both scored 7 goals in all competitions this term, and Batshuayi has done it in markedly fewer minutes. That has to count for something.
You’ve also got to consider Chelsea’s upcoming clash with Man Utd. A win will put the Blues right back in contention in the Premier League, and if Morata is the Blues’ first choice forward, a mid-week rest could do him the world of good if he is to line up against the Red Devils. Let’s be fair, whilst Batshuayi scores goals, Morata offers more as an all-around player, and so a day off on Tuesday will give him the perfect chance to prepare for one of his biggest games since moving to London.
Batshuayi just needs a chance, and he will no doubt deliver. Do you agree? Vote below and let us know!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
