25-year-old reaffirms desire to play for Chelsea next season and beyond

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with the start to life that Alvaro Morata has made. The Spaniard has impressed since moving to London, and he has provided sensational quality in front of goal. He has already bagged 7 goals in all competitions, and he’s expected to only get better as time goes on.

It will come as a big boost to supporters, then, to hear the latest from Morata with regards to his future at Stamford Bridge. According to the Evening Standard, he has confirmed his desire to stay at and play for Chelsea for a very long time indeed.

Morata said: “If Chelsea proposed me 10 years I’d probably sign that too”.

He added: “I’m happy with this club, in this city, with everything in London. I really like London and, probably, if I make good and improve, probably I can stay here more than five years”.

The Spaniard is clearly loving life in the English capital, and why wouldn’t he be? He’s playing for one of the Premier League’s best clubs, and unlike much of his career so far, he has been playing every single week. There is obviously a bit of concern when a player first moves to a new country as to how they will adjust, but there appears to be no such valid concern for Morata.

His happiness is showing on the pitch, too. With incredible technical ability and an eye for a goal, if he keeps performing like he is at present, Chelsea will be more than ready to hold on to him for the best part of 10 years.

Landlord’s Verdict

Morata, alongside Michy Batshuayi, has formed one half of a very impressing attacking duo.

The Spaniard has been chosen ahead of Batshuayi more often than not, and with good reason. He has simply been phenomenal.

Considering the fact that he is still settling, it’s frightening to think just how good Morata could become.
