£250,000-per-week striker says that he wants to play for Man Utd next season – on one condition

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting Wayne Rooney to leave the club this summer…

However, it would appear as though there is at least a chance that the Englishman could stay at the club ahead of next season, with Rooney recently revealing that he would like to be at Man Utd next year. According to the Guardian, he said: “Would I like to stay? I’ve been at this club 13 years, but I want to play football. Here? Of course”.

There appears to be a very big ‘but’ in this statement from Rooney – with the Englishman keen to ensure that he has regular game time. Whilst he clearly wants to stay at Man Utd, it would appear as though he will only do that if he can earn a regular starting berth under Jose Mourinho.

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern think that the striker may well struggle to find what he is looking for at Old Trafford. The team has grown and improved under Jose Mourinho, and with Rooney’s form certainly on a downward spiral – many think that he will have no chance breaking in ahead of the likes of Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata going forward.

That being said, our landlord still thinks that Rooney, who reportedly earns £250,000-per-week, can do a job when called upon – so it might not be the worst idea for Man Utd to hold on to him.
